Sigur Ros have a flickr account and I love this fact. Someone in their camp occasionally uploads little snippets from their life. Its almost like being on the inside. One of my favourite things about the internet is when bands will give fans that intimate private insight into things going on whilst an album or project is in the works.

Radiohead do it with Dead Air Space(their blog) and they do it well. What can be more exciting for a hard core fan than waking up to a little cryptic poem from Thom? Are they lyrics to a new song? Is he sharing an intimate piece of writing he write on a napkin in a coffee shop? What glee whistles through a fan’s heart to find photographs of Colin and Johnny bumming around on bicycles during recording of a new album.

During the recording of the least favourite U2 album of mine, All That You Can’t Leave Behind, the boys set up webcams in their studio in Dublin and had them running 24/7 for fans to see. Ask any U2 fan who was online at the time and they will tell you that Larry Mullen Jr loved his blue chair. I have wished U2 would do something similar ever since. Bring back Studiocam!

These little secret pockets into the lives of our beloved rockstars are what I adore about the internet. The photographs shared, the clues and mysteria, oh how I love it! Keep sending us the little clues, Sigur Ros flickr guy. We love you!
